The Milk Maid - Johannes Vermeer
The Milkmaid (Dutch: De Melkmeid or Het Melkmeisje), sometimes called The Kitchen Maid, is an oil-on-canvas painting of a "milkmaid", in fact a domestic kitchen maid, by the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. It is now in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which regards it as "unquestionably one of the museum's finest attractions".
Johannes Vermeer was born in Delft and was a well-known painter of the Dutch golden age. He lived in the same time as Rembrandt van Rijn. |

The Merry Drinker - Frans Hals (1582 – 26 August 1666) was a Dutch Golden Age portrait painter who lived and worked in Haarlem, though he was born in the Southern Netherlands (present-day Belgium). He is notable for his loose painterly brushwork, and he helped introduce this lively style of painting into Dutch art. Hals played an important role in the evolution of 17th-century group portraiture.
